Inspired by Andrey Babayev’s composition of the Azeri song

This song tells the tale of a woman’s lament, anxiously awaiting her beloved’s return from his sea journey while their only child sleeps soundly in the crib. As she talks to the small waves of the Caspian Sea, asking if they have any news from her beloved, their rhythmic whispering to each other comes to life and provides her solace in her loneliness.
Lyrics:
Whisper to me, whisper to me, oh dear little waves, perhaps you bear a message for me
Three nights have passed since my beloved embraced the open arms of the sea Moonlight pours upon our child’s crib who I just put to sleep
But the moon’s glow will run out soon
Whisper to me, whisper to me, oh dear little waves
How many nights have passed while the moon traverses horizons
While the misty wind blows across the chest of the Caspian Sea
My heart is yearning, oh deep blue sea Hasten and be the bearer of good news for my restless heart
Oh deep blue waters, open a safe path for my beloved’s proud return
For the golden son of “Absheron” can only return victorious
*Absheron is the name of a peninsula in Azerbaijan.
